Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the LCS Journal go through a double-blind peer review process. The review procedure is as follows:

Initial Screening

The Editorial staff evaluate each manuscript to determine if its topic and content is suitable for consideration by the LCS Journal. Manuscripts that do not pass the initial screening are returned to the authors within one week of receipt.

Peer review

Manuscripts that pass the Initial Screening are sent to reviewers/referees, who are selected based on their expertise in that particular field. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers under a double-blind peer review process, where both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous. To facilitate timely publication, reviewers are asked to complete their reviews within 4 to 6 weeks. In their reports, reviewers are asked to make a recommendation on the acceptability of the manuscript to the Editorial staff. In cases where there is strong disagreement among peer reviewers, further expert advice may be sought.

Recommendation

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor makes the final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript and communicates the decision to the authors, along with reviewers' reports. The final decision can be:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Resubmit with major revisions
  • Reject

The resubmission time is generally within 2 months unless advised otherwise.

“Ghost-writing” and “guest authorship” prevention

“Ghost-writing” is a situation where a person contributes significantly to a publication without revealing one’s participation as one of the authors or without reference to their role in the acknowledgments.
“Guest authorship” is a situation where an author’s contribution is insignificant or non-existent and nevertheless being the author or co-author of the publication.
The editors reserve the right to reveal all aspects of scientific dishonesty.

The editors require that authors should reveal individual co-authors’ contribution to the publication. Potential contributions include:

  • Conception and design
  • Development of methodology
  • Data collection
  • Analysis and interpretation of data
  • Writing, review and/or revision of the manuscript
  • Administrative, technical, or material support

  • Other

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the deliberate or reckless representation of another’s words, thoughts, or ideas as one’s own. Duplicate publication, or self-plagiarism, occurs when an author reuses substantial parts of his or her own published work without providing the appropriate references. By submitting your manuscript to the LCS Journal, authors accept that their manuscripts are screened for plagiarism against previously published works.
Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarised will incur plagiarism sanctions:
- immediate rejection of the submitted manuscript or published article; and
- prohibition against all of the authors for any new submissions.
